A cold November rain fell to the ground as Dantalion made his way to the borders of the Courtyard. The coldness of his skin mingled with the rain reminding him of a familiar sensation… uncontrolled lust. He sought out her spirit, the one that existed only between his world and mine, unsure if he wanted to forgive her or forget her, and make his conscience clear.

Lilith would never let him go… neither would I. Dantalion sought her out, this night, while I bled it out below in the fires of the first heaven, every movement of his betrayal, every flash of Dantalion ignited the scorching heat from the brands on my arms, taking a piece of me, bit by bit.

"We must all face our demons," Dantalion mumbled as he approached the Courtyard altar, removing his cloak, drenched in guilt and rain.

She found him in the Courtyard, beautiful… sculpted to perfection, beads of rain rolling down his arms and past his waist. Her hair was slick against her pale skin.

"I'm reclaiming your spirit so you can finally be free," Dantalion's demon claws drew across her flesh, consuming her in one uncontrolled spiritless lust.

He slunk down to the ground, flat across the altar while the driving rain hit across his skin like a thousand knives. A voice drowned out the sound of the rain.

"What have you done?"

Dantalion glanced up, staring out at Rowan in the night. "Setting things right," Dantalion defended his honor. "Lilith can reclaim her spirit now. When we get to the first heaven, I'll be free of them both."

Rowan tried to decipher what he meant by being free of Lilith.. and of me. "You think it's gonna be that easy to rid them of your conscience?"

Dantalion remained calm, but the darkness and the cold seeped into his core. "I told Levi, and I'll tell you. This curse is wearing me down."

Dantalion retained perpetual youth as part of his curse, but with his ascension to the third heaven, appeared somewhat older. Now, his eyes gave him away, showering the truth down like rain.

Rowan pushed the dripping strands of hair away from his face. "Let's go back," he protested, for the first time seeing the burden weighing on Dantalion. "We've got a 'Succubus' to summon."

The two drenched demons made their way back to the North gate in the damp night.

The cold ground left Dantalion numb, but it was the silence between them that lingered longer than expected.
