“Are we related?” she tried so hard to sound polite.

“I can tell that you are not so social. I’m…..”

“He is Ricky, my boyfriend’s brother.” Angie interjected before Ricky could finish. Angie and Ricky shook their collective heads and drank their scotch. Flora looked at the tall handsome guy and faked a smile. She never wanted to get involved or socialize with anyone Angie knew.

“I’m sorry but I have to leave, my mother needs me.” Flora lied. There was a pause in their conversation before Angie said. “Did I miss something?”

“No, everything’s fine.” Ricky answered.

“If you may excuse me.” Flora walked to her mother. They both concurred with a mutual nod as Flora disappeared. Ricky turned to look at Angie with a stunned face.

“Why would you lie about who I am?” Ricky asked

“I’m sorry but I had to lie.” Angie defended herself.

“She will think I’m a liar when she finds out that I’m your boyfriend.” Ricky said.

“I have a plan, that’s why I lied.”

“I thought we came for a funeral not to lie about who we are,” he tried to walk away but Angie held him by the arm.

“You are a professional thief, since when did you start having empathy to your victims?” she tried to lower her voice.”
