"I'm beginning to like being taken care of."

I smiled as I popped a French fry into his mouth. "I'm glad."

After we ate, I cleaned up the mess and then sat back down with Keith. "Oh, the doctor's not going to like me sitting here."

I started to get up but Keith put his arm around my waist and pulled me back. "Uh, I don't care. I'll just say it's necessary for me to get well."

I giggled. "Really? In that case," I snuggled close to him, "How's this?"

"Perfect."

Dr. Collins walked in. "Good to see you awake, Mr. Sheppard. I'm Dr. Collins." He picked up the chart and read it over. "You're doing very well. I plan on sending you home tomorrow. You'll need lots of rest and someone to help you, but I assume your wife will handle that." I nodded. "Your bruises and broken ribs will heal in about four weeks, but your hand will take a little longer and therapy may be required. I suggest you take four weeks off work, and even then you need to be careful until your hand heals."

"Thank you, Doctor Collins, for everything," Keith said.

"My pleasure, I don't know the details but I do know that its people like you and your wife that put your life on the line every day that make the world a better place." He shook Keith's hand and then he walked out.

"I'm going to call Amy and ask her to bring the car and some clothes over."

"Good idea."

I got the cell phone out of my jacket. I dialed her number and I moved around until I found reception in the middle of the room. "Amy?"

"Mandy! Is Keith all right?"

"He's a little roughed up, but he's going to be fine."

"That's good news, so what's up?"

"I need to know if you can take our car from CTC, go to our place and grab some clothes for Keith and I."

"No problem. Anything else?"

"Um . . ." I looked at Keith and he nodded. "Um, yeah I just found out that we're having a baby."

Amy shrieked, and I nearly dropped the phone. Keith laughed. "Ames!"

"Sorry, that's wonderful news. Tell sexy when he gets better we're going out to celebrate, k?"

I laughed, and repeated what she said to Keith who grinned. "All right, now you've gone and inflated his ego." I winked at Keith who laughed.
