They kissed each other goodbye and they left the same time Madelyn and Victoria left to pick Luke up at the airport. For a little ways they followed them until they turned onto the highway heading south They settled in for the long drive back to the mansion. They were headed back to farm country in the Midwest. Back to where life was a lot more simpler and friendly.

Karen told Thomas I wish Buffy was there waiting on us. Karen had tears running down her face. Thomas reached over and held her hands. A few minutes later she dozed off for awhile. She hated doing that while he was driving. She always had the fear that he might also fall asleep and they would both be in a accident.

They stopped at this rest stop and Thomas took a little power nap as the younger generation called it but to them it was a kitty nap.they sat the clock for an hour and half. Then they were back on the road again. This time Karen had gotten a traveler mug of good hot coffee for Thomas and a word search book for her to do to try to stay awake. They even listened to some oldies on a CD that they had.

When they got to the junction of Coon Country Hills and Cliff Hangers Ridge they called Henry and asked him if fried Chicken sounded good to him. He said yes. All they had to do was use The Chicken Hut's drive through. They were back home in less than twenty minutes. They ate then they sat to watch the news and felled to sleep before the weather came on.

They woke up close to midnight. Then were still so tired that they went to bed leaving their things out in the car until morning. They both slept until almost noon. This time they got the well rested sleep They took their showers and made themselves look presentable. When they came down stairs they heard the old hens crackling outside wanting to be fed. Karen took the seed bucket and went out to fed them. The scenery from the hilltop was so enchanted that it made you think you were a queen.

Awhile later they drank cold tea while sitting on the swing next to the picnic table under the old oak tree. She wanted to show Victoria what it looked like here in Porky Pine Hallow. Everyone was known to each other. Porky Pine Hallow was a farming community. They didn't even lock their doors at night. That night the wind blew across the room. It was a little chilly so Thomas closed the window. Karen would have preferred it to stay open but she was sure she would have came down sick. She couldn't wait until summer where the windows could stay open.
