Although it was only a fifth teen minute drive from where he lived to Lacey's home he left thirty minutes early. When he arrived at her home Lacey was just about ready. She invited him in while she put some finishing touches on her make up.

"Can I get you something to drink, I'll only be a few minutes?" she asked.

"No thank you, I'm just fine," he replied.

She was even lovelier than he could imagine. She had stopped by a beauty salon after she got off work. Her hair hung in ringlets much like that of Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind."

Arflin glanced around the modestly furnished apartment while he waited for her to finish getting ready. There was a picture of an elderly couple on a small coffee table in front of the sofa. William supposed that was her parents. There were numerous medical books on a shelf by the door. He knew these were from her nursing classes. He could see the small kitchen from where he sat. The apartment was much like the one he now lived in.

"I'm ready if you are," Lacey said as she entered the living room.

She was simply stunning. She wore a long black evening gown that had rhinestone trim around the neck. Her high heels were silver and sparkled whenever the light shone on the toes. She had a black shawl and matching purse.

"You are so beautiful I feel out of place being seen with you," he blushed as he complimented her.

"Thank you, but it is I who feels like Cinderella on her way to the ball with a handsome prince she winked back.

"I thought you might like to dine at Guillaume at Bennelong. It is a fine restaurant in the Opera House. That way we won't need to rush to get to the symphony before it starts," Arflin or I might say our man who now goes by the alias Jock replied as they walked out the door.

"I've heard of that restaurant, but I have never been there. I have heard the food is out of this world. I'm looking forward to it. Excuse me if I act a little nervous, but this is the first real date I've had since Fred died," Lacey remarked.

"Act anyway you like. I just want to make sure you really enjoy yourself tonight," Jock said as he opened the car door for his beautiful date.

Lacey and Jock made small talk as they drove to the Opera House.
