"Yea we usually don't. Usually the first time we're thinking about what's next or having a dream is after the baby comes." Jayden laughed at his mother's words. "Why do you think I've always supported you and even helped you out with the seed money?"

"Because I'm your son and you love me?"

"Not so much…" Her honesty surprised him.

"No?"

"No… It was because I saw that you had ambition and a dream and I wanted you to live out your dream and then hopefully find someone with a similar dream and the two of you could see some kind of shared life together. You could possibly see yourself with this woman supporting each other and making your dreams come true. Build a life together. That's what marriage is about and I never found or that person and I never connected; so I got off the merry-go-round and began living my life and stopped waiting for someone to enjoy my life with and to live out my dreams."

"So what kinds of guys did you date?" Jayden asked but he was scared to hear the answer. He had a sneaky suspicion that he already knew the answer without her having to say it.

"You know, the typical kind that's looking for a quickie or a one night stand. The ones that were in-between relationships and when they had smooth things over with their main girl, they were scarce around me. Like I said, I got tired of the merry-go-round and decided to get off."

Jayden knew he was right. His mother kept coming across greasy dudes like him; men who only wanted to slide in and out of her life while making no commitments, being irresponsible and having no accountability for his actions; men who were doing one-time attraction and one-man stands- men like him. Damn he cursed to himself. Now he could see Mia's point-of-view clearly. She wasn't the accident waiting to happen; he was far worse- more like a disaster waiting to happen. What sane woman would purposefully want to walk into the likes of him? She was just like his mother; she had decided to get off of the merry-go-round; living and enjoying her life without waiting for that perfect man to enter into her life.

"I just got married… You're the one who wants this… you take him." Dinah asserted to her brother Markus as they were in the small conference room of the nursing home.

"Dinah, working at the firm full-time and part-time alderman…Serious with the city council meetings, business meetings and Lisa just went back to work, there's the baby; can't do it. There is no way I can take him home with me full-time." Markus explained. He was exasperated and feeling tense.
