If that was hoof disease they had work to do to keep the other moose population from getting it also Abby called Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and notified them what the vet thought it was and where she had shipped the hooves to. They thanked her and would be waiting to hear from her on the results and even gave her the direct line to the person who needed to know The test came back positive for hoof's disease. She notified MDC and was put on their list not to transport any more animals there untill further noticed and since the park wasn't open to hunters they didn't have to worry that it might be spread that way but campers was about it and infomed they were closing the cmp grounds down a little earlier than usual.

On their inital examination there was just that one Moose that was infected. Abby ordered to be done weekly. The next week the rangers saw that several of the deer seemed to be losing some weight and was drinking a lot of water. They tranquilized a couple of them and took to the vet. He teated them for Hemoorhagic Waste disease. The doctot thought just by examining them that it was Wasting disease and ordered the rest of that group to be transportated away from the rest of the deer population which is exactly what they did. They were put into pens with tops on them. Testing came back that the deer had the disease.Abby ordered the rangers to help the doctor to kill them humanly so there wouldn't be an outcry from the media.
