"There's no way they would ever allow me to step foot in there!" I protested, searching frantically for another option.

"Everything written in the grimoire derives from the word of God… words used in the invocation of angels and the evocation of demons. Re-sealing Satan, Belial, Lucifer and Leviathan is the only way to remove the brands and release you from demonic possession. They know I will come for you… they will be expecting you. If I do not sign the oath you will die."

"Maybe I can get in there… maybe not. Erin and Lucia have ties to Yale's elite. But… aren't the powers of God stronger than any demonic possession? Can't they do something?" I pleaded.

"It is my responsibility alone to protect you as your guardian. They can only oversee my actions…they will not interfere. Sometimes I regret my decision to become guardian… demonic powers are much easier to master than supernal ones," Dantalion's killer smile melted away my doubts.

"Remember, Rowan can help you. He will have to shape-shift in order to do so," Dantalion reminded me.

"When I saw him last he was standing alone… he still had the medallion around his neck."

"He knows Gwynnedd will only answer to him now," Dantalion shot a glance that pierced into my core.

"I can see the truth in your eyes… as much as you want me to believe it, we can never be together, can we?" I pulled him closer.

"Laurel, you know the answer."

His immortal perfection would always be his curse. Dantalion's goodbye kiss tasted of heaven but was tainted once again with the angel of darkness.

"Remember… I will meet you there… at The Tomb no later than midnight," his scent lingered on my skin.
