When he woke up he saw on the mantle clock it was five o'clock, he kissed her forehead and said her name and she came instantly awake, we'd better be getting ready for dinner, you go first, I'll wait, she said, "we can go together, I'll bathe if you want to shower", he said, '"that will work, I know if we both get in that big tub, we will not make it to dinner."
So that's what they did, he was out first and went to start getting dressed, then as he went back in she was out in a fluffy robe, and he went in to shave, and she started to dress, she went in then to do her make-up and he finished dressing it worked out well and they were ready for dinner by six thirty.
When she emerged from the bathroom ,he was standing by the French doors, looking so handsome, in wine colored trousers, dress shirt in a lighter shade with an even lighter fine stripe, his thick dark wavy hair, she paused just to look at him, then he turned and saw her, and said, ''you look lovely my dear" they complimented each other because she was in a very pretty rose colored dress with a v- neckline with rows of tiny pearls lining that v it had a delicate piece of lace in the v- neck for modesty, long sleeves with the same rows of pearls around the cuff and she had pretty shoes on also in rose, she wore teardrop pearl and gold earrings and her gold watch, it was all she needed ,she was lovely, He said, if you're ready we'll go," and he put his sport coat on then, which was in a rich burgundy tone, and they left through the main door to the hallway.
They went to the main dining room and were seated by a window, it was an elegant room, with big round tables around the center of the large room, with beautiful crystal chandeliers hanging over these table, there were smaller tables scattered among the larger ones, all of the tables had ivory linen tablecloths, with candles in gorgeous crystal holders, that sparkled like diamonds. And over in one comer was a baby grand piano and a man in a tuxedo was playing dinner music.
They looked their menu over and each had decided on a seafood dinner of their choice. Starke ordered a nice white wine for dinner. The dinner started off with New England clam chowder and it was excellent, Candee said you were right so far. The food here is wonderful, he said, "yes, I try to get up here a couple times a year, mostlyf or the seafood dinners which I really enjoy, or sometimes for lunch to have the clam chowder. Gerta gave me an open invitation to stop in anytime; she really is like a Grandma to me, I usually run errands or do little chores for her while I am here, she's a dear, she truly is. Candee said, "she seemed very nice and grandmotherly, of course I wouldn't know this first hand, and once again he felt a pang of sadness for her.
