Candee told him about her best friend at work, Rosie she's an older woman, but has been a good friend to her since that day she started at the paper, without Rosie there, her job would be very boring indeed.
She told him a little more about her life growing up in different foster homes, no horror stories as with some she has heard, but never really having a home that she could call her own, where she could truly feel settled, because she never knew when she'd be moving on. This made him sad for her because he had a great childhood.
Saturday, had finally arrived and it was to be a nice warm day with plenty of sunshine, so Candee decided to wear a skort, which is a combination of shorts and skirt, comfortable she thought and not too short, with a pretty short sleeve blouse and tennis shoes completed her outfit. Starke arrived around eleven o'clock and he was wearing modest shorts also, he had great legs she noticed, to carrying around those broad shoulders of his no doubt. He told her she looked very pretty, and he couldn't wait to show her off to his family, which is exactly how she knew he thought of them.
They chatted on the way from Scranton to Wilkes-Barre, a short drive really, and she noticed he was going into his mothers neighborhood, she ask "do they live near your mother?" He said "yes, didn't I mention that?" We were neighbors as far back as I can remember, and so when a home came on the market shortly after Cam and Julie were married he jumped at it, and it is perfect for them, room for Cam to add on as needed and a big yard for the three K' s, did I forget to mention the dog? Yes you did she said, they have a golden lab named Trix, got him as a puppy one Christmas for the three K's so they could grow up together, it worked out great, no one would dare snatch one of those kids while Trix is around. Candee said Ah, and nodded her head she understood perfectly, the two men being on the force and all.
She said, "I guess you saw many terrible things being on the police force," he said" yes, I paid my dues," as did Cam, and now we both like it just fine being on this special task force, policing the web instead of the streets, and we're still out there catching bad guys, we just happen to be out in cyberspace. We're here and he turned into a driveway of a nice brick ranch style home. Starke got out and carne around to help Candee from thet ruck, and he reached behind the seat to retrieve a small cooler, she wondered what itc ontained just as he said, I picked up some steaks for the grown-ups, the three K's will only eat hotdogs or hamburgers.
