When she got to where she thought she saw the road, it turned out not to be a road at all. Instead, it was a sun bleached, flattened, bit of rock that when she looked in either direction the rock seemed to go on for miles. Looking closer at it she noticed that it had the similarities of an old rock bridge, but this one was crumbling with time. She got off the bike and leaned it against a tree, and stepped onto the crumbling rock bridge with a tender step. What she had first thought to be cultivated land on either side of the bridge was instead clumped areas of wild shrubs that had grown out of control. Looking around she found her view to obsctructed and the descending series of valleys and rolling hills had suddenly vanished from sight.

"There has to be a road around here, I just know it," she told herself determinedly. "It must be lower down. I shall just have to keep on until I find it." Getting back on the bike she took off on the path leading her futher away from the Chateau, and unknowingly into danger.

She followed the bridge to the left where the ground appeared to be fairly level. Eventually the bridge met a with a cliff that ran straight down the ever steepening hill. Alannah climbed to the top of a ridge where bridge and what looked like a spire met, what she saw at the top did not give her hope. She was met with a steep grassy slope, and sharp looking boulders and pieces of broken white stone that stuck out of the ground like the broken teeth in a Pirate's smile.

Alannah could not be detered from her quest, and she looked around until she could see where the ground was once again level. The path once again went off the left leading deep into the forest, so she decided to try this direction instead. "Well, Alannah, the road can't be far now."

She soon found herself at the edge of a deep lucious forest. Here the ground seemed to be unobstructed and level. Alannah took a deep breath and moved forward not noticing that the sky was becoming very dark. Taking to the bicycle once more, she followed what she thought to be a simple winding path that she thought would eventually lead her back to an open hillside. It was very dark and cooling in the forest, making Alannah wish once again that she had doned a sweater for this adventure. Goosebumps were appearing on her arms and legs, so that she began picking up her pace. At the top of the slope she stoipped to look around, from this vantage point, the patches of forest seemed to be very small. Looking at them she assumed that they would soon come to an end.
