"Come dance with me." Virginio says, finishing the last of his drink. Handing the server his empty glass for another. The band is playing some sort of Italian melody.

"I don't think that is a good idea." I muttered. Cursing inwardly. I wanted more than ever to get away from here. The spray of beautiful music did little to comfort me.

He extended his arm and I looked at Darryl, then back at him. Virginio was mid fifties, graying and smelled of liquor and cigars.

"Don't touch her Virginio." Slapping away his hand.

He froze, nostrils flaring. While we stood silently. My heart pounding.

"Don't, you ever..."

"I dare you to touch her again, Virginio." Cutting him off. My eyes flew frantically to him, pleading. Chest strained in his immaculate suit as he moved forward, pulling his jacket aside. Only then did I realize that he was armed.

"I am not afraid to kill you. Right here. Right now." He warned

"Darryl." I pleaded, taking his hand. "Come let us dance." Grateful for a reason to get away. Even through I was only going to embarrass myself. I couldn't dance. At least, not to this sort of music.

"I am sorry." He offered as we moved away. Arm-in -arm, heading to the ballroom, stepping onto the dance floor.
