His eyes bore into me for a moment before returning to Darryl's. "Of course, I agreed. The wedding will take place in three months."

Husband. Arranged marriage.

I cringed at the words. Mentally cursing as his hand moved lower. A slight warmth growing in my belly and it wasn't from the alcohol.

His mother removed a pack of cigarettes from her itty-bitty purse, extending her hand to me. "Want one?"

I nod my head. "No."

"How about a light?"

I was about to answer when I noticed Vincent approaching with an overweight guy following closely behind him.

"Mr Virginio." He says in a silky, rough brogue. "One of the ten mafia chiefs."

Darryl shook his hand and they exchanged a few low words before greeting his mother with a bow and a kiss on the hand. Turning to face his father.

A group of women, eyeballing Darryl from a distance. Whispering amongst themselves. While I stood here still hoping, that this event was about formal speeches, tuxedos and rich folks with excessive money to spend on the less fortunate.

"Pop Quiz Adela." I jumped at the sound of name. It was Virginio, who wants my attention. "Firstly, I must admit that you look hot."

I look straight at him. I think he is expecting me to blush and smile. Thank him for his compliment. When I didn't he continued. "Which is a more profitable business venture? Drugs or gambling?"
