"Okay." Caitlin escorted Garrett to his truck. "Tomorrow I'll look at your handiwork. Please get some rest." He kissed Caitlin on the cheek and hopped inside his truck.

Caitlin waved but did not rush inside. She looked at the home her Granddaddy had built over sixty years ago. Marshall placed the house with a 360-degree view of the mountains. To many it looked more like a guesthouse, not the right house for a successful ranch. But Emmaline did not find pleasure in extravagant living. She loved her cozy house, as did Caitlin. This house had been built with love, a love that lingered in every inch of it. "This is home."

She shuddered as if someone watched her. Caitlin refused to turn around, as she stepped inside the house and locked the door. Before going upstairs she turned on the living room light. She disliked the paranoia of late, but until things settled down she was going to take all necessary precautions to keep herself and her home safe. "This is my home and land. No one is taking it from me."
