Angie gripped the staring wheel until her knuckles turned white.
I don’t belong here. I hate this town. I hate everything about it. I can’t wait to leave. Her words still echoed in her head. She wanted to grab Flora and shake her but she had to hold still until her plan work. I hate her she muttered. She leaned her head back and stared up. Her phone buzzed and she picked it up, it was a message from Jerome.
I’m in town, meet me at the town mall.
She started the ignition and headed straight to the mall.
Jerome was always punctual. Angie saw him standing next to an ATM machine in a hoodie.
“Tell me you have my money.” He held her by the arm.
“Angie’s scowl matched Jerome’s. “Go to hell. A slow smile started at the corners of Jerome’s mouth, then he burst into laughter.
“What did you just say?”
Angie didn’t see the humor. Goddam it, I will get you the money.” She swore.
Jerome sniffed and scratched the side of his neck. “The money goes up.”
“Now I get the real reason you are here. Money. You don’t care about what we owe you as long as you get to develop an empire.”
