“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” He sounded gloomy. “I want to tell you that I’ll be leaving soon.” Her lifeless fingers started shaking. She stood up, her anger rising. She did not exactly appreciate being left alone, after she told her friend how she was falling in love with Ricky.
“You lied to me.” She yelled at him. He could smell the alcohol from her breath. “I don’t know anything about you, all I know is that you will be related to that evil Angie soon.”
“What was I supposed to say?” he put his palms up in the air, exasperated. “You don’t want to talk about yourself either.”
“Yeah, Ricky, I thought there was a damn good probability that you would hear everything from your sister in law. I was also hoping, hoping against hope that you wouldn’t want to know. That you would love me for who I am today.”
“I would never let details slide, especially details about the woman I’m starting to have feelings for.” She stared at him, tears filled her eyes. She never expected to hear that from him. His eyes flashed with all his pent-up pain, she knew he felt something for her.
He stood two feet from her, she could smell his-mint, aftershave and his cologne. “I know you don’t feel the same way and I get it. You have a cruel past and don’t trust anyone.” He continued. She swallowed real hard. Hearing what he said made her feel like she was eating rocks. He put his hands on his hips pushing his jacket back. She wanted to scream, show him how much she loved him. She had never opened up to anyone like she did to him. All she wanted was to give it a try.
