"Unless we find some answer to that ancient riddle, we too will fail, whether or not we prevail against the east."

Belloc clucked to Nightwind and began leading the company north through the pine forest once more. In a few hours they reached a small clearing where a huge standing stone stood.

"This is the turning point," he announced to all within earshot. "Our journey now lies east, and will take us even to Morlock's castle. Our purpose, however, is to slay the servants of our enemy by stealth, and to draw them out of and away from Morlock's castle, in order to entice the Demon King's attentions.

"That there has already been unrest between our two ancient foemen is the reason we are here today. It is our hope that we may find a way to provoke war between our two enemies before they can unleash utter ruin upon ourselves.

"We ride now, to an unknown end and an uncertain future!"
