With a great cry they swept down upon the goblins, bowling them over, hewing their way through the villains, giving vent to their outrage.

"Where is Nylandor?" cried Amrhost, and a blood-spattered dwarf pointed to the front of the nearest building which was now almost engulfed in flames.

There he saw Nylandor, Julina, and a few men fighting for their lives, even as they tried breaking down the doors.

"You, dwarves!" he shouted above the din to several stout dwarves bearing axes. "Use your axes to break down the doors!" They moved with alacrity towards the nearest building. At the same time, Amrhost took with him the rest of the warriors to aid Nylandor. It was a terrible struggle to behold. The goblins were determined to stand their ground, giving the defenders of the Four Kingdoms no quarter. Through the confusion, Amrhost saw Julina, standing alone before the doors,

fighting for her life.

But when they reached the doors, none were left standing. Nylandor was dead, overpowered and hacked upon by several goblins. Julina lay unmoving, glazed eyes staring at nothing, blood matting her hair. An arrow protruded from her thigh.

"You damned little fool!" he choked, checking to see if she yet lived. He scarcely noticed as the doors were broken down, that the dazed elves within, choking on smoke, with the air full of burning cinders, found themselves rescued, barely in the nick of time.
