"The medic's are coming."

He nodded and put his arms around me, looking for comfort. I held him close stroking the back of his neck. "No more scaring each other today okay? I don't think I can take it," I said near tears.

"Me either." He said as he buried his face in my neck.

The same medic who had bandaged my hand approached us. "Y'all sure keep busy."

"Just doing our job," I said. Keith turned to face him, but kept one arm around me.

"Well I respect you both for putting your lives at risk to protect this country."

"Thanks...I'm sorry I don't know your name." I said.

"Wyatt."

"Nice to meet you Wyatt. I'm Amanda and this is Keith."

"Nice to meet y'all as well. So, what's the problem?"

"I think I broke a rib or two being thrown during the explosion."

"Let's see what I can do to fix ya up."

Keith took off his jacket, and handed it to me. He removed his flak jacket, sitting it down against the tree and then lifted up his shirt. There was already bruising on his right side and I could more clearly that his breathing was labored. I held his hand and watched as the paramedic examined him. Wyatt pressed lightly against the third and fourth ribs on Keith's right side and through gritted teeth Keith let out a hiss. I squeezed his hand.

"Yep, it's broken. I can tape it up, but I think it'd be best if ya had an x-ray. Just to be safe," Wyatt said.

"All right." He looked at me sadly, and I knew he was worried that would take more time that we didn't have.

"It's fine; we've got plenty of time. Let's just get you taken care of."

"Y'all have somewhere to be?" Wyatt said as he rifled through his bag and then pulled out tape.

"Yes, today is our wedding day," I said.

"Congratulations to you both." He said as he taped up Keith's ribs.

"Thanks."

He handed Keith an aspirin and a bottled water.

"Wyatt! I need your help buddy!" Another paramedic said.

"Excuse me; I've got to go help. Good luck." He grabbed his bag and ran off.

"Let's get out of here," Keith said.

"I'd like nothing better." I handed Keith his jacket which he slipped back on. As another agent walked by I handed her the flak jacket and gave her instructions to take it back to CTC.
