"Don't shoot, please I surrender. Mulad is downstairs with your agents." Jeff cuffed him to a table and we opened the door that led to the basement.

We slowly and quietly went down the wooden stairs, any noise and we'd be detected. That would not be good for us or for Keith and Pete.

"You will tell me the security codes and you will tell me what I want to know. I will kill you," I heard a man say from the other side of the door.

There was silence. "Surely, you want to go back home? You have a wife I see, do you really want her to be alone because you refused to give us a simple code? That's a shame, Keith, she's very pretty. I'll make sure to give her my condolences for killing you."

"Go to hell," I heard Keith say and then I heard him spit.

I heard the sounded of a muffled kick and then a cry of pain from Keith. "No, but you we'll be there shortly." I bit my lip to keep from crying out as we reached the basement door which was locked. I pulled out the keys and unlocked it. Jeff pulled the door open, and I stared in horror at Mulad who had a gun pointed at Keith.

"Freeze-" Jeff said.

Mulad looked over and raised his gun, instantly I reacted shooting him twice, once in the arm and once in the leg. Minor wounds that would hurt but that wouldn't be serious. I wanted to kill him, but he had to pay for what he had done, and he wasn't going to get the easy way out. He fell down, and Jeff secured him.

I walked over to Keith and dropped down beside him, I quickly untied the ropes around his ankles. I then gently cradled his head in my lap. I took a deep breath. All right, keep your cool. Find out what's wrong and what needs the most attention. He needs you to be strong and help him. You can't do that if you fall apart.

I looked him over. His clothes were ripped and bloody. His fingers on his right hand were swollen, crooked, and badly broken. His hands were tied together with rope; I undid the knot and winced as I saw the burn on his wrists. There were cuts on his face, and a cut over his eye probably where Mulad had kicked him. Judging by his labored breathing he probably had a few broken ribs as well. "Get the medic, NOW!"
