"Who are sending to apprehend Grey?" I asked.

"Keith and you; that is if you're up for it. Only if you think you can handle it."

"I can." Keith shot me a worried look.

"What about your arm?" James asked.

"It was a minor injury, and Kim said I could go out in the field." Okay so maybe she said if it was an absolute necessity, but it was. "You two get some rest and dinner then. We'll prep you at eleven. Stay here but take it easy for a few hours."

James left and I turned to Keith. Here we go. And I was hoping he wasn't another guy that thought he always had to worry and protect me because I was a woman. "Amanda-"

"Look, I appreciate your concern but I can handle myself. I know when I can or can't do something and I don't need to treated-"

Keith took my hands in his. "I was going to ask you if you'd like to join me for dinner. I know you're tough and if you think you can go out into the field that's fine. I trust that you know how to handle things. I've been injured and gone out on missions before so I'll be there if you do need anything."

I wanted to kick myself. "I'm so sorry. I thought that--"

"I know."

"It's good to know you're there if I need you." I smiled at him. He didn't say anything but he reached up and tucked my hair behind my ear and then kissed my hand. It made me fall even harder for him. How could he say nothing and yet the tiniest gesture meant everything? "So, dinner?"

"Sure, but don't think this counts as that dinner you promised me." I teased trying to lighten the mood. The mood I had destroyed.

He chuckled. "Of course not. I have dinner at McDonald's planned."

I laughed. "How'd you know?"

"Lucky guess."
