Qionghai City was a small base city. It was surrounded by high walls, which made it look like a little oasis in the wilderness. Its surrounding areas were all occupied by zombies and mutant beasts. But all the survivors were gathered in that oasis, hiding behind the high walls to live.
In the absence of zombies’ tides, life there was just the same for ordinary survivors, full of violence, hardships, and struggling to get out of the bottom. They didn’t know what was going on outside, or even what was going on in the tallest building in the center of Qionghai City every day. Actually, they even didn’t have the right to get close to that building, in which the central power of the Qionghai City was.
On the top floor of the building was the most powerful man in Qionghai, Commander Luo Jiafeng. From there, he could look down on the entire city. Ordinary survivors didn’t have the chance to meet him at all.
Currently, two reports were laid in front of him.
“Song Lingchen led the Storm Squad to fight against Shi Ying Squad. At the same time, dozens of survivors’ teams joined him. Unexpectedly, the Shi Ying Squad defeated them all.” That was the content of the first report. Of course, the news had been spread throughout the whole city, shocking everyone.
Luo Jiafeng felt a little surprised but what he really cared about was the second report. There was nothing on Luo Jiafeng’s desk other than the two reports, a radio and a telephone. The radio was synched on a particular frequency from which some numbers and words sounded at certain times. Only a few people could decrypt what they meant. In fact, they could know the exact time of the next broadcast due to those numbers.
Luo Jiafeng had received the second report from the radio, and he was staring at it intensely. “‘Weapons’ have been found.” It was a simple sentence, but it had made Luo Jiafeng’s breathing heavy.
Before doomsday, Luo Jiafeng was only a mid-ranking officer. Therefore, he was in the dark about the news that his higher-ups had received about the virus outbreak. The outbreak changed his mentality greatly, and after gradually becoming stronger than his peers, the real world became totally different in his eyes. If he had not joined the mysterious organization, it would be impossible for him to know about the existence of the so-called ‘weapons.’
Luo Jiafeng was lost in his thoughts for a while, and then he made a call. After that, he closed the radio and threw all the documents into his steel trash can. As he rubbed his fingers, a flame darted from his fingertips into the trash can, burning everything inside.
By the time the flames had gone out, and the documents were burnt to ashes, a professionally-dressed woman with short hair and delicate features opened the door.
“Commander Luo, I have arranged all everything according to your orders. You can leave whenever you want,” said the secretary.
“Got it.” Luo Jiafeng nodded eagerly.
“Well, how about the Shi Ying Squad?” asked the secretary hesitatingly.
If he had not received the second report, he would fight against the Shi Ying Squad in person. He wanted to get the Black Hole’s Core. However, in his mind, the Shi Ying Squad wasn’t as important as the ‘weapons.’
Luo Jiafeng replied casually, “If they run away, increase the price of the bounty. If they try to hide, send someone to sniff them out.”
“Okay!”
…
“What do you know about your Commander Luo?” On his way to the Qionghai City, Jiang Liushi asked the officer of the Storm Squad.
The man was called Wu Guang. Although Wu Guang was still very vigilant against Jiang Liushi, he didn’t believe that Jiang Liushi was a cruel person. Therefore, he didn’t refuse to answer. “I don’t know him at all. I only know that he wasn’t a commander before. He became the leader of a team out of the blue and established the Qionghai City. Compared to other base cities, Qionghai City is like a larger trading point,” said Wu Guang.
Wu Guang was a military-raised officer, so he had witnessed the establishment of Qionghai City and all the subsequent developments. Wu Guang knew that lots of things were always shipped to Qionghai City. Then weapons, evolution crystals and other resources would all be traded for other commodities. Originally, Wu Guang didn’t care about those things. He just wanted to stay in Qionghai City. He knew clearly that curiosity would only lead to death. However, after being asked by Jiang Liushi, Wu Guang had suddenly started to think about those matters carefully. Qionghai City was a warlord territory, but everything could be bought from there. It sounded fishy.
‘He also climbed to a high position suddenly! Just like Han Yuan,’ thought Jiang Liushi.
Jiang Liushi estimated that Qionghai City was one of the mysterious organization’s bases and Luo Jiafeng was in charge of protecting it. Undoubtedly, Luo Jiafeng was more important than Han Yuan in the mysterious organization. Of course, if Jiang Liushi hadn’t killed Han Yuan, the latter would also become an influential figure in the future.
“Luo Jiafeng isn’t a simple man. He is strong, decisive, goal-oriented and tough,” said Wu Guang. He looked at Jiang Liushi and added, “If you think he’s on the same level as Song Lingchen, then you are totally wrong.”
After all, Luo Jiafeng held all the real power in Qionghai City.
“If I thought that he was in the level of Song Jiafeng, I wouldn’t be so interested in him,” said Jiang Liushi.
“Okay,” answered Wu Guang. He didn’t want to be involved at all. When they started off, they all believed it would be an easy task, but the outcome was totally different.
He looked forward and said, “Qionghai City is just in front of us.”
As they got closer and closer to Qionghai City, the contour of the city had already appeared in their vision. Wu Guang looked at Jiang Liushi with a perplexed expression.
Did Jiang Liushi indeed have the confidence to face an entire city?
