After Black Puppy tore apart the black-clad servant’s vital essence fist, it clawed forward again without a shred of hesitation. Its claw landed directly on the black-clad servant’s chest, leaving five bloody gashes across his torso. Blood spilled to the ground.

Black Puppy’s back paw kicked at the ground and, springing up into the air, it kicked at the black-clad guard. The man was sent flying down the stairs in a tumbling mess.

Seeing this unfold, everyone in the inn was overcome with shock, their eyes filling with disbelief.

They couldn’t understand why this black dog was so cocky. It even dared to attack the Crown Prince’s personal guard. Did it have a death wish?

The black-clad guard crawled up from the ground. His face was like a volcano, filled with flames of rage.

He was the personal guard of the Crown Prince of the Country of Lingyun. He was famous throughout the Imperial City and most people treated him with great respect. But now, he was sent flying by a dog. This was a slap in the face to the Crown Prince.

The black-clad guard glowered at Black Puppy.

“Damn mutt,” he hissed. “I’m going to skin you alive!”

Black Puppy raised a paw and, pointing at the guard in black, spoke in a cocky tone. “Dumbass idiot, come and let your Daddy Doggy slap you to death!”

Enraged by Black Puppy’s cheekiness, the black-clad guard drew out a large black blade. Utilizing the vital essence within him, he formed a beam of fierce blade energy and cleaved toward Black Puppy before him.

Black Puppy didn’t care at all as its body sprang forward. Taking to the air, it raised a right paw in front of him and caught the black blade energy. Clenching down on the beam, it clawed the blade energy to shreds.

Seeing this, the crowd was shocked. They would had never in a million years imagine that a dog would be so powerful. It caught the blade energy attack with its physical power alone. It was unbelievable!

Black Puppy moved quickly, and like a flash of black lightning, it appeared in front of the black-clad guard instantly. Raising its paw, it slapped toward his right cheek.

Pa!

With a loud slap, a dog-paw print appeared on the black-clad servant’s right cheek. The print was extremely clear, and it made the man look extremely silly.

The black-clad guard was stunned by the blow. He was always the one disciplining others, no one had ever dared to do the same to him. To add insult to injury, it was a dog who had hit him.

The black-clad guard let out an infuriated howl as he drew on his vital essence again and swung his right fist at Black Puppy.

Black Puppy swung its paw once again and landed slap after slap on the black-clad servant’s face, leaving his entire face swollen and bruised.

The black-clad guard shrieked, his entire face a red mess, swollen up to the height of a steamed bun. He looked positively pathetic, his hair un-tied, he fell down the stairs and rolled to a stop outside the inn.

Black Puppy glanced at the black-clad guard and cussed, “Garbage.”

Then, wagging his tail, Black Puppy pattered back to Qingfeng Li’s room.

The black-clad guard glowered in the direction of where Black Puppy disappeared, eyes filled with hatred.

“Just you wait,” he growled. “I won’t let you get away with this!”

The black-clad guard turned and left, he needed to get some backup and teach this black dog a lesson, along with Qingfeng Li. He will teach them the consequences of crossing him.

The black-clad man was a guard of the Crown Prince. He had a lot of influence. He directly mobilized the Imperial City’s Imperial Guards and had them surround the inn.

Having taught the black-clad guard a lesson, Black Puppy returned to their room. He was chatting with Qingfeng Li; the two of them were trying to decide what to do next, when they heard a loud noise coming from outside.

A moment later, the owner of the inn walked in. The owner was a pudgy forty-something man, with a massive beer belly. It was evident that he drank and ate well.

At this moment, the pudgy middle-aged man was soaked in sweat. His face was pale, like he was frightened by something.

Qingfeng Li stared at the pudgy owner. “What are you doing here?”

“Uncle… no Grandpa,” the pudgy owner stuttered in dispair. “You just told this dog to attack the Crown Prince’s guard. Now he’s got the Imperial Guard surrounding the inn. If you don’t go outside, they’re going to destroy the building!”

Qingfeng Li smiled.

“Fine,” he said, “I’ll go take a look outside.”

Qingfeng led Black Puppy outside. He knew that, if he refused to go outside, the Crown Prince’s guard would never let it rest. He still needed this inn to sleep in. Of course, he wasn’t about to let the black-clad guard destroy the building.

When Qingfeng Li and Black Puppy exited the inn, they found that the streets outside had been surrounded by more than a hundred black-clad guards.

These black guards either held bows or spears; they exuded a fierce energy. They were setting a powerful array formation.

Their leader was the Vice-Captain of the Imperial City’s Imperial Guard. He was a tall man with stoic features, and he stood with his back straight, his gaze intense as he exuded a piercing energy from all over his body.

Qingfeng Li frowned, a tad surprised. He hadn’t expected these guards to know array formations. Using the theory of arrays to position their troops, their attack power would be multiplied. And it looked like the array formation they were using was not half bad.

The black-clad guard stood at the very front, his face still puffy. The dog-paw print was still clearly visible on his cheek. He glared at Qingfeng Li and Black Puppy in rage, eyes positively spitting fire.

The black-clad guard wave a hand and said to the people behind him. “You all, go! Seize this man and Black Puppy.”

Hearing this, the hundred or so Imperial Guards raised their bows and spears. They approached Qingfeng Li imposingly.

“Stop! Who told you to surround this inn?” Suddenly, a clear voice rang out.

Hearing this voice, the guards all stopped. They put down their weapons and turned around. They saw a young man walking up from behind them.

This man was twenty-two years old. He was handsome, his figure tall. He wore a golden python-patterned robe and exuded a sunny aura.

“All hail the Second Prince,” the leading guard spoke in reverence, kneeling with one knee on the ground.

This young man was non-other than the renowned Second Prince of the Country of Lingyun. People called him a genius; he had provided many constructive suggestions for operating the country and was therefore loved and held in high regard by the Emperor. He was famous across the Imperial City.

The Second Prince frowned as he spoke to the leader of the guards. “You are the Imperial Guard of the Imperial City. Your duty is to protect the Imperial City. What are you doing here, ambushing this inn and this young man?”
