Dean answered. "She may have been more realistic about Annie's life, but she is very protective of sister Claire. Let's look at why they were taken. Maybe that speaks more about the person who took them."

Cynthia nodded in agreement. "The only people truly interested in Annie Quincy are Effie and Claire. It must have been one or the other of them."

"Claire seems to be the prime suspect for taking everything else that isn't nailed down," Dean offered. "She was desperate to hide any blemish on her version of ancestor Annie Quincy's sainthood."

Cynthia capped the discussion with a yawn. "But it doesn't really matter does it? We have the original. Let them have the copy, for whatever it's worth to them. They are about to go back to Boston. Good riddance." She rose and announced it was far past her bedtime, in any time zone.

Dean followed her, happy beyond belief to have her once more share his bed. But the peaceful sleep he'd assumed would come eluded him as his mind continued to trip over far too many loose ends in the recent happenings.
