Jayden looked at the envelope addressed from his doctor's office. His hand slightly shook as he wondered if he really wanted to open it up. What if it was bad news? Surely they wouldn't send bad news through the mail, would they? They would call and ask me to come in, he reasoned with himself.

He was just about to tear opened the envelope when suddenly he thought: what if I'm wrong. Abruptly he laid the unopened letter on the counter and went to the bathroom to take a shower. He figured he would go out tonight and enjoy himself first. If it was bad news, he didn't want to be depressed right now. A couple of hours later wouldn't hurt.

Arriving at the House of Conscious Jayden went straight back to the drum room. It was drum night and he had become quite good at beating the drums. As he approached the entrance, already a drum session was in full swing. The drummers had a good rhythm going and it was easy to feel and hear the emotions in the music. Jayden was in a good mood tonight and he couldn't wait to get his chance to go upon stage and play himself. Abruptly his smile faded and he felt a slow anger rising in his being.

"What's he doing here" he mumbled under his breath. Mia was on stage all smiles like he had never seen before and she only had eyes for her partner; Skippy. Jayden unconsciously clenched his fists in anger. This old geezer was definitely wearing out his patience and he didn't like him hanging around Mia. He had put a lot of energy into softening her up for the kill, and this dude was getting in the way with his cock-blocking ways.

"What up…" he greeted Avery who was sitting at a front row table with Nita and his son A.J.

"Sup dude," Avery greeted. Nita turned slightly acknowledging him. Jayden reached over rubbing on his godson's head as he sat down besides them. A.J. turned around grinning from check-to-cheek at the attention.

"Sup lil'dude… long time no see" he told A.J.

"Where you been" A.J. asked as he got up and went to his godfather.

"You know I been making things happen; running my shop man."

"My game is coming up." A.J. told him.

"Game; you on a team somewhere?"

"Basketball at the park district" A.J. proudly announced.

"Count me in. I'll be there to see you… Maybe we can get a little practice in…" With Jayden's promise A.J. then turned his attention back to the performance.
