EDIT: Rovi Evangelista pointed out to me that website called dotnovel has already made an EPUB of MCM, so HERE is a link to the EPUB for anyone who wants it, and I’ve made a link on the main page.

Here’s the much delayed chapter from me. I’ll be getting out at least 2 more chapters during this next week (as long as life doesn’t get in the way, but I will say this in advance, I may be called in by my unit to set up our new arms room sometime during the week and have to delay 1 chapter a little further).

Extra little tidbit (not an advertisement), I’m sure I’m not the only one who reads on their computer or phone late at night when they should be going to sleep, but I was doing a little studying on that recently (I was bored). I know it’s well known that blue light causes you to wake up to a degree and interferes with your brains ability to produce melatonin (the chemical that puts you to sleep) and I recently found a cool app for computers and rooted androids or jailbroken apple products called f.lux that will automatically adjust your screen to warmer colors (red and yellow) from blue after sunset to make it easier for you to fall asleep. I know there’s a number of other apps out there, but finding something like this can be good for you and help you fall asleep at a better time, as well as reduce late night eye strain (although it does make whatever you’re looking at look more orange, so late night gaming with it on would look wrong, but you can turn it off if you want!)

05-14 Apologies and Dolls

Jin and Reinhardt had forgotten to eat lunch while they were making the distiller.

Unable to overlook this, Reiko dragged two people into the dining room.

The two who finished making the lunch in a hurry ran back to the workshop, and…

「By doing this here,」

「Yeah, shall we try this?」

They were still working on producing a distiller, working to give it as much efficiency as possible so they could produce more water in less time.

「Reiko, could you get some copper?」

「Yes, Father.」

「Reiko is so excellent, I’m jealous of you JIn.」

Reinhardt is impressed with how good of an assistant Reiko is and gets more raucous.

Because of Jin and Reinhardt’s natural inquisitiveness, they continued experimenting without compromise to make a breakthrough.

They had made two prototypes, then three, but all of them were rejected.

Neither Jin nor Reinhardt had gone into town that day, but a high-performance distiller was made as compensation.

「…………」

Later in the afternoon, Elsa who had been looking forward to going around the city of Borgia was really angry.

「E-Elsa, I’m sorry!」

「What do you mean?」

「Grrrr」

Elsa’s iron elbow beautifully entered the pit of Reinhardt’s stomach.

「……Are you okay?」

Jin who was watching and was worried asked Reinhardt.

*   *

With his body bent like the く character, Reinhardt who let greasy sweat run down his pale face didn’t respond.

Jin was about to cast [cure] when Reinhardt finally came to and started breathing.

「G-ugh,…… that’s just like Elsa.」

As he said that, he quickly turned around to see Jin while Elsa was gone.

「Reinhardt, I think we messed up.」

「Yeah….. I guess. Whatever the reason, we’re the ones who broke the promise.」

「Let’s go apologize and-」

As Jin was saying so, Reinhardt…

「Y-yeah.」

He gave a crisp but awkward reply. When Jin asked why he was behaving strange, Reinhardt finally spoke up about the reason.

「When Elsa get’s angry, she won’t lend an ear to listen….」

He said.

As Reinhardt told Jin, the answer would be similar to what he saw earlier.

「Whenever she was angry in the past, she was out of control.」

Although Jin thinks it’s bad to break a promise, but he’s doubtful whether he or Reinhardt would stop the production of the distiller.

「But, I don’t know what’ll happen if Jin goes.」

「Why me?」

Reinhardt and Jin were slightly different in their understanding, and when Reinhardt noticed that he returned with

「Even if I go, what should I say to apologize?」

Jin thinks that Reinhardt is a bit of a pain.

Although he isn’t sure of Elsa’s age, when he was in the orphanage, he had to break a promise with a young girl and when he apologized…

「Alright, let’s do it. Reinhardt, please prepare some clean cloth, some thread, and some hardwood.」

「Eh? Oh, got it.」

After saying so, Reinhardt asked a maid and a butler of Marquis Firentsiano’s house to prepare the materials that Jin had asked for.

「Are you going to make something with these?」

「Well, just watch.」

Then, Jin used his engineering magic.

First, he prepared a mold from the wood with [Shaping]. Those were connected by [joint] and the shape was arranged.

The color was bleached by [safe treatment] and it was smoothly arranged.

Next, he took out a black thread and tied it together by [binding] and attached it with [joint].

「Ho, this is….」

He took a piece of clean cloth and handed it to Reiko while giving her instructions. One was sewn into an unfamiliar form with a different color of fabric.

「Finally, the tabi, huh.」(TLFalin: Tabi are a type of japanese sock, like you see on ninjas in a lot of movies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabi)

After pulling out a white cloth, he formed the tabi with [shaping].

He put a black stone in the eyes to and a rouge lipstick on it to finish it.

Yes, Jin was making a Japanese doll.

「Now we put on the kimono, and…」

Dolls are good for young children when they cry. From the structure of the kimono to a Hakata doll, a Kyoto doll, or an Ichimatsu doll had all been studied briefly.

「That’s a strange doll. Are the clothes a traditional thing?」

Reinhardt admired

「It also vaguely resembles miss Reiko somehow.」

Black eyed, black, bobbed hair. Although it’s not completely like Reiko, as the hair is a little longer.

「Oh well. I tried to make it look like an old doll I saw.」

The materials are different, but it’s tentatively a japanese doll. The Kimono was made with a western styled cloth, but it looked unexpectedly good.

Jin was about to go to Elsa’s room with the newly completed doll and then…

「Reinhardt, where is Elsa’s room?」

He said, so 3 people, Reinhardt, Jin, and Reiko went to Elsa’s room together.

First, Reinhardt knocked on the door.

「Yes.」

It was Mine, the nanny, who showed her face.

「Mr. Reinhardt, what happened? The young lady came running into her room, and no matter how much I call, she won’t answer.」

She said anxiously, and then noticed Jin.

「Mr. Jin, did you possibly….」

He seemed to have felt some antagonism from Mine.

Then Reiko stepped forward,

「Please stop the false accusation. I cannot let you get away with insulting father any further.」

「Hiii!」

As expected, in the face of someone of Reiko’s ability, Mine’s face went pale.

「Stop, Mine.」

「Stop it, Reiko.」

Reinhardt and Jin said respectively to Mine and Reiko.

「Well then, Jin, you go, we’ll wait here for you.」

Jin nodded in understanding and went into the room. Mine didn’t disturb them any further.

He knocked on the door, but there was no answer, so he knocked again.

「Elsa? It’s Jin, will you open up? I want to apologize.」

After knocking and saying that, the door opened and a subdued voice came.

「……What? ……I don’t want you to apologize.」

To Elsa who was speaking like that, Jin held out the doll.

「Yeah, this is also a part of the apology. Please accept it.」

For a moment, Elsa stared blankly at the doll in front of her and the door opened a little more. It didn’t look very good, and there were frays around the edges.

「Cute…… Is this for me?」

Elsa slowly stretched her hands out toward the doll, and Jin immediately handed it over.

「I’m sorry about today. I’ll definitely compensate you tomorrow. Ah! Reinhardt!」

Jin looked back as he remembered Reinhardt. Frantically, Reinhardt says…

「Y-yeah! That’s right!」

「You see, Reinhardt’s like that too, so cheer up. Please take care of the doll.」

Elsa pinched onto the hem of Jin’s outer jacket as he was about to return to detain him.

「Wait……. what’s the name of this child?」

「Eh? It’s name? Hmm, I wonder….」

Toshinobu Nishini (Humanity, justice, etiquette, intellect and sincerity). Jin was about to call it Nobuko, but it didn’t seem to match this world.

「The name is…. Non.」

Although a name like “Noriko” would normally be called non or non-non, you shouldn’t expect anything from Jin’s naming sense, but that’s another problem. (TLFalin: This is an actual line, not something I added in)

「Non….. thank you…. cute.」

Elsa said so as she was holding Non to her chest.
