The pills fell into his palm, and he shoved them all into his mouth without even counting. He then used the glass of water before him to wash them down.

Song Qingchun couldn’t see the label on the box due to the distance between them, but when Su Zhinian raised his hand to toss the pills into his mouth, Song Qingchun managed to catch a glimpse of the mountainous pills that filled his palm. What pills are those? Why is he taking so many of them at once?

Song Qingchun frowned slightly as she walked into the dining room.

Su Zhinian noticed the movement and turned unconsciously toward the door. There was a flash of uncertainty and consternation that crossed his eyes when he saw it was Song Qingchun. However, that was quickly suppressed as he reverted to his usual calmness and aloofness. After a pause, he asked, “You’re still up?”

Song Qingchun nodded wordlessly as her gaze fell on the box in Su Zhinian’s grasp. Su Zhinian’s fingers that fell into Song Qingchun’s gaze trembled slightly, and his palm moved to hide the medicine box as best as he could. Then he cleared his throat, as if attempting to move the topic of conversation. “You… you’re here for water?”

The stutter in Su Zhinian’s voice made Song Qingchun turn to study his face. His facial expression was as elegant and as graceful as ever, but for some inexplicable reason, she felt like there was something off about him.

Since Song Qingchun didn’t answer, Su Zhinian reached out on his own to grab a glass of warm water and passed it to her.

“Thank you,” When Song Qingchun accepted the glass, she glanced once more at the box in Su Zhinian’s hand. After she took a sip of the water, she asked, “Are you ill? Why are you taking so many pills?”

“It’s nothing serious… Just a minor flu…” Su Zhinian explained succinctly. After a pause, he pointed upwards and said, “I’ll be going up then, have to get up early tomorrow.”

Song Qingchun nodded, took another sip of water, and said, “Good night.”

“Night…” Su Zhinian brushed past Song Qingchun’s shoulder, walked out of the dining room, and went upstairs. The quietness of the house amplified the sound of Su Zhinian’s footsteps. They felt like they fell right on Song Qingchun’s heart, making her feel incredibly congested.

Since Song Qingchun slept very late the night before, she woke up late the next morning. She had a morning meeting at the company, so she rushed through her morning rituals, grabbed her bag, and ran downstairs.

To her surprise, Su Zhinian was still at home, having breakfast with Song Menghwa in the living room. The breakfast was scrumptious. However, because she was in a hurry, Song Qingchun didn’t have the time to enjoy it all slowly. She slurped down a bowl of porridge at lightning speed, placed the bowl down, and prepared to leave. When she stood up, Su Zhinian suddenly pulled out a document and pushed it toward her.

Song Qingchun looked at him with confusion and slowly landed back down in her seat. Su Zhinian, who saw her confusion, didn’t show any sign of explaining. He pulled out a pen from his pocket, placed it on the document, and said, “Sign this.”

Sign this? What is this?

Song Qingchun opened the document and realized it was a document of transference for ST Empire’s stocks and several prime real estate locations in Beijing.
