Cheng Qingchong stared at Su Zhinian wordlessly.
Su Zhinian frowned and moved to pull open the door because he did not have time to waste on her. After he got in and started the engine, Cheng Qingchong suddenly reached out to pull on his car door. She waved the letter and plane ticket before his face. “CEO Su, does this mean that you’re planning to leave and not return?”
There was an obvious rage that crossed Su Zhinian’s eyes. Then, the next second, he remembered that he had accidentally left the stuff under the document that he had asked her to fetch. He pressed on his lips and reached out to take the letter and plane ticket back from Cheng Qingchong, adding, “This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with you.”
Then, Su Zhinian moved to pull the door shut. Cheng Qingchong, who had always been so obsequious before Su Zhinian, blocked the door with a sudden burst of bravery and demanded, “CEO Su, you’re leaving because of Miss Song, right?”
There was obvious dissatisfaction surfacing on Su Zhinian’s face.
“CEO Su, if you like Miss Song that much, why aren’t you fighting for her but running away?”
Cheng Qingchong’s words struck a nerve. Fight? If I could fight, I would have fought tooth and nail six years ago. Why would I make myself suffer for so long through these years?
The temper of Su Zhinian, who was normally patient toward Cheng Qingchong, at least relative to how he treated other females, suddenly flared. He slammed on the gas pedal, causing the girl who was teetering on her heels to almost fall to the floor.
When Cheng Qingchong raised her head again, Su Zhinian’s car was already nowhere to be seen.
…
The chance encounter with Su Zhinian at Meilin had cast a gloom over Song Qingchun’s mood that had not improved over the week.
Song Qingchong’s car was with the mechanic that Wednesday, so it was Qin Yinan who came to fetch her from the hospital. On the way home, while waiting for the traffic light to turn green, Song Qingchun saw the billboard by the roadside that was advertising ST Empire’s latest product, and her already foul mood only turned for the worse.
That afternoon, Song Qingchun’s period came, and she had not been feeling well the whole day. Before leaving the hospital, she had called Fang Rou to inform her to take her place to accompany Song Menghwa. Then, she gave Qin Yinan a call, to tell him not to come to the hospital later.
“What’s wrong?” Qin Yinan asked.
Song Qingchun explained that she was not feeling well. Who would have guessed that when she left the hospital that afternoon, Qin Yinan, whom she had told not to come to get her, was already waiting at the door?
After taking several packs of ginger tea that afternoon, Song Qingchun already felt better. Qin Yinan noticed the pink on her face and suggested they dine at Beijing Hotel when they passed the place.
Song Qingchun thought about it before agreeing.
After dinner, it was already 9 pm. On the way home, they passed a stall selling baked potatoes. Knowing it was her favorite snack, Qin Yinan stopped the car to buy a pack for her.
When the car reached the Song family’s home, Song Qingchun incidentally had just finished the pack of potatoes. When she parted with Qin Yinan, he noticed the crumbs stuck to her lips, and he naturally reached out to wipe them away.
The suppleness of her skin under his touch made Qin Yinan stopped in his motion.
Qin Yinan’s fingertip stopped on the edge of Song Qingchun’s lips for such a long time that the girl slowly raised her eyes with a frown to look at him.
