She powered on until the last set of pictures was taken. Without taking off her wedding dress, she rushed toward the bathroom.
After removing her contacts, Song Qingchun felt much better. She used the napkin to dab away the tears the fell down her face and turned to walk out of the bathroom.
However, she only took two steps before stopping. Su Zhinian was standing at the wall opposite from the bathroom entrance with his head lowered, typing on his phone. Song Qingchun really did not expect to run into Su Zhinian there. Therefore, when she saw him, her brain drew a complete blank.
She stood there dazed for a moment as their shared memories overwhelmed her like a giant wave.
These few days, the thought of the man really did not cross her mind so much so that she managed to lie to herself that she had forgotten about him. However, when they met face-to-face, she had to admit that she had not forgotten one bit about their time spent together.
She had not predicted she would one day cross paths with Su Zhinian, so she did not know how to act. Of course, she had not envisioned it would be when she was wearing her wedding dress.
In less than ten seconds, there were plenty of scenarios playing in Song Qingchun’s head. In the end, she caught herself feeling nervousness and butterflies in her stomach.
Wait, what am I being nervous about? Because he does not like me, I’m not allowed to marry someone else? I’ve not done anything wrong by him; if anything, I’m the innocent victim in this whole debacle. It is impossible for me to stop my world from moving simply because I once loved him, right?
Song Qingchun tried her best to stop her raging emotions. She took a deep breath quietly. After a long struggle in her mind, she finally decided to play this like a stranger, like they did not know each other.
After all, that was the result he wanted, and that was the most suitable scenario between them.
She was not one to hold onto grudges, but that did not mean that she did not care. She would never forget the things he had done, particularly the words he had said in his company meeting room.
At this point, Song Qingchun pulled her gaze back from the man. Even with a plan in her mind, she still found herself to be quite nervous.
She grabbed the tulle of her dress, lowered her gaze, and walked one step after another out of the bathroom.
The closer she got to Su Zhinian, the shakier her legs underneath her dress became. However, she tried to appear as collected as she could be on the surface.
As she turned out of the door, even though Song Qingchun tried to keep her distance from Su Zhinian, she was practically brushing shoulders with him, and the man’s unique scent snuck into her nostrils.
One step, two steps, three steps, four steps, five steps…
Song Qingchun counted the steps that she took in her mind to counteract the nervousness she was feeling. When she was one meter away from Su Zhinian, she finally dared to breathe again. Right then, she heard his voice from behind her. “Qingchun?”
