The taxi driver was dazed before telling Song Qingchun the fare. Song Qingchun grabbed a handful of money out from her pocket, glanced through it to make the amount was about right, and shoved it toward the driver. Then, she practically jumped out of the car.
Song Qingchun stood under Su Zhinian’s company and tipped her head back to look at the skyscraper that shot into the sky. She fixed her hair that had gone ruffled from all the rushing about against the shiny glass, took a deep breath, raised her chin up, and took slow deliberate steps toward the company entrance.
The door sensed Song Qingchun’s approach and opened slowly. For this past year, Song Qingchun had been to Su Zhinian’s many times. In fact, when she stayed with Su Zhinian, she even followed him to work once so Song Qingchun was familiar with the company layout.
She grabbed her bag as she walked into the company lobby. She didn’t glance about but walk straight toward the elevator like she owned the place. The receptionist saw her and immediately called, “Miss, I’m sorry, but who are you looking for?”
“Su Zhinian,” When Song Qingchun answered the lady, she didn’t even slow down in her steps.
“I’m sorry, miss, but do you have an appointment?”
“No,” Song Qingchun answered truthfully as she stood quietly before the elevator and reached out to press the “up” button.
“Miss, I’m really sorry, but without an appointment, you will not be able to see CEO Su.” The receptionist had run out from the front desk to come stop Song Qingchun.
Song Qingchun’s gaze swept the lady who was running toward her, and she ignored her to step into the elevator. The elevator closed, and she pressed the number for the top floor. The red number above the door continued to climb. Following the “ding dong”, the number stopped climbing, and the door opened.
The receptionist had probably called the manager because when Song Qingchun stepped out of the elevator, there were already people there stopping her. “I’m sorry, miss, but you cannot go in.”
Song Qingchun walked past the people that stopped her with a frosted face.
ST Empire’s workers had professional training, so even though they were there to stop Song Qingchun, they did not get physical. Instead, they only persuaded her using their words. “Miss, if you continue this further, we’ll need to call security.”
Song Qingchun did not stop but moved faster. When she passed the secretary department, one of the secretaries grabbed the phone on her table to call the security department.
Cheng Qingchong, who was coming out of the breakroom, was dazed when she saw this scene. She called out, “Miss Song,” before using her gaze to signal to the secretary who was on the phone to stop. She would take care of this.
Cheng Qingchong placed the cup of coffee in her hands on her office desk and walked toward Song Qingchun. “Miss Song, you’re here to look for CEO Su?”
Before Cheng Qingchong could continue, Song Qingchun reached out to push the door to Su Zhinian’s office open. Warm sunlight drifted into the space that was familiar to Song Qingchun, but the space before the two-meter-long desk was empty.
Song Qingchun scanned the room and asked, “Where’s Su Zhinian?”
