He had thought Larna was wife material. She was drop dead gorgeous, cooked and cleaned and they had mind-blowing sex, but best of all she could hold up her end of a mentally stimulating conversation. He had even visited his jeweler a couple times in the last few weeks thinking one day he would make an honest woman out of her and marry her.

Now, he was glad he didn't buy a ring as he looked at Larna standing in his bedroom with Cindy, her dirty little secret. He regretted every dime and every bit of energy he had spent on her.

Defeated, Larna walked past him with her last bag and said, "Neil. Just know that I loved you…but…but…you were never here."

Neil didn't dare look up at her for fear she would see his bloodshot eyes. "Just go."

It was true that he was never home, but Neil needed someone who had the will to hang in there with him through the rough times as he climbed the ladder at Naytek.

Later that evening, he called Trey. "You won't believe the mess I've been through today. Let's go out tonight and get into something and I'll explain it to you then."
