Pulling out my phone, I read it again.

Colt: Every time I close my eyes I see your beautiful blue eyes. Can’t wait to hold you in my arms tonight.

Letting out a contented sigh, I closed my eyes and dreamt of Colt’s touch. I could almost feel the scruff on his face between my legs as he took me to heaven and back. My whole body shuddered as I thought about it.

Opening my eyes, I sent Colt a text.

Me: Can’t stop thinking about you. You are a delicious distraction Mr. Mathews and I miss your lips.

Setting my phone down, I stared at it as I waited for his response. When nothing came after five minutes, I picked up the phone and pushed it into my pocket. Gathering up my books, I headed out of class. Making my way to the library to meet a study group, I heard someone call out my name.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Stay calm, Lauren. Don’t punch her. Just smile and be nice to the little bitch.

“Lauren, wait up!”

Slowing down, I waited for Marie James to catch up to me. I hate her and that bothered me because I didn’t even know her. The only reason I hated her was because she was the only girl Colt had dated steady since he broke up with Rachel in high school.

Marie came up and walked next to me. Turning slightly, I smiled weakly and said, “Hey there, Marie.”

“Hey. How are you doing?”

Giving a quick nod of my head, I said, “I’m doing great. Late for a study group though.”

“Oh, okay right. I’ll be quick.”

Staring straight ahead I waited to see what she wanted. “So you and Colt Mathews, huh?”

Smiling, I said, “Yep,” as I popped my p.

“I have to say, you’re a lucky girl. So many of my friends were dying to go out with Colt and they were so jealous when I was dating him.”

Stopping dead in my tracks, I turned to Marie. Okay, you little bitch. I’m not playing games with you. “Marie, not to be rude, but was there something you needed?”

Marie’s facial expression turned from one of amusement, to more of a stunned look. “Um . . . well, I just wanted to know like how serious are the two of you. I know you both grew up together and you live in the same house and all. But Colt mentioned you were his girlfriend and I was just wondering if he was saying that to push Roger back or something?”

My mouth gaped open. Taking in the sight of Marie James, I wondered what Colt ever saw in her. She was cute, don’t get me wrong. But she just had an air about her that was off. Like she was trying to be something she wasn’t. Her blonde hair was pulled up into a tight bun, and she looked like she had just stepped out of an interview with the CEO of some major company. Not what I pictured Colt would be into.

“Colt and I are dating, Marie.” Turning to head to the library again, she reached out for my arm.

“Like as in exclusively dating?”

Rolling my eyes, I faced her. “Yes. We’re exclusive.”

Narrowing her eye at me, she asked, “How exclusive?”

“Are you kidding me? What is wrong with you? Colt and I are very much together, Marie.”

“Uh-huh. Have you been . . . together?”

Shaking my head, I started walking. If I didn’t get away from this girl now, I was going to punch her in the throat. “Damn it, Lauren I’m sorry. It’s just Roger is wanting to know how serious you and Colt are. I really like Roger and I want to . . .”

I held up my hand as I stopped walking and turned to face her. “Oh. My. Glitter. Marie, don’t do his dirty work for him. You could do so much better than him. I mean . . . he is having you ask me about my relationship with Colt. Doesn’t that bother you?”

“Well, no. I mean, if I get the chance to date the quarterback of A&M, do you know how amazing that would be?”

My heart instantly hurt for this girl. Slowly shaking my head, I tried to understand how she was feeling but I couldn’t. I wasn’t with Colt because he was some star college football player. I was with him because I loved him. A light breeze blew as I pushed a curl away from my eye. “Okay, Marie. You need something to take back to Roger. Here ya go. Colt and I are very much together, the sex is amazing and every night I pray to God that I’m going to spend the rest of my life with Colt Mathews.”

Marie’s face fell. “Um . . .”

“I’m late, have a wonderful evening, Marie, and good luck with Roger.”

As I walked away I felt my body shaking. How dare he? How dare that asshole recruit someone to dig information up on me? Hopefully Marie would go back and tell Roger what I said and he would move on to someone new.
