Sara was in the enchanted garden, which was how she thought of it now, sitting on a chaise lounge under the shade of a palm tree, reading a leather bound copy of ‘Anna Karinina’. She had always wanted to read it, but had never had the time before. She was so involved with the story of the tragic lovers, that she didn’t hear Rashid enter her suite. She finally glanced up from the book, and her heart stopped as she saw him coming towards her. Oh, how that man did affect her! She jumped up and raced into his arms, her book all but forgotten. They kissed, but she felt something was different and pulled back to look up into his eyes.

“What is it?” she asked, concerned by the sadness she saw there.

He took her hand and brought it to his lips, kissing her finger-tips. Then he looked deep into her cobalt blue eyes, as if searching for an answer. Finally he spoke, his voice a husky whisper, “I do love you.” But before she could respond, he led her inside.

She was puzzled by his behavior and asked, “What’s going on? Has this got something to do with your trip? You never did tell me where you were going.”

“I went to the United States,” he replied and watched as her eyes grew wide. “I have brought someone back with me who is anxious to see you.” And with that, went to the door to admit David Wilson, though he dreaded what was to come.

When Sara saw David, she squealed with delight and ran into his open arms. Tears filled David’s eyes as he held her tight, thankful she was truly alive and even more beautiful than he remembered.

Unnoticed by the reunited pair, Rashid quietly slipped out the door. He couldn’t bear to see his golden bird in another man’s arms.

“Oh, David, I can’t believe you’re really here. I thought Rashid would never be able to clear things up with the authorities so I could go home, but he did, and you’re here.” She searched the room for Rashid. “Where did he go?”

David ignored her question, puzzled by her previous statement. He took her by the shoulders, “Sara, ...” he began, “Rashid didn’t contact the authorities.”
