She pulled away. "But that's not fair, is it? You answered stuff; really personal stuff you didn't want to tell."

"You'll tell me when you're ready."

She whispered, "I don't want to lose you, Sarah."

"Like you lost your Mom? That's not going to happen."

"No," she said, a firmness in her voice. "Not like that at all."

Her answer stunned me and I was lost for words. I took her hand and stood. "Come on. I don't want to talk about this depressing stuff anymore. Let's have some fun. We'll find Timmy and go down to the beach and get the nastiest banana split we can locate!"
