With a gaping mouth, he stared helpless at her for a couple of seconds. “It seems you do know them after all,” he acknowledged reluctantly.

“Of course, I do.” She beamed triumphantly. “I could always...”

“That won’t be necessary,” he quickly assured in a flat cold tone. “Miguel, please accompany Miss Hernandez,” he ordered. Miguel frowned. “Now!”

Supernova and vampire stared at each other. Tension vibrating through the room. One could almost hear a pin drop. His jaw clenched tightly as he pressed his lips together. Reluctantly, he moved towards the door.

“Thanks, for your time,” she said and hurried back up the aisle while appreciatively watching him move like a jungle cat on the prowl.

“Shall we go?” she asked with a skittering heart when she reached him. He nodded and indicated for her to go through first. “Thanks,” digging nervously for her cell phone. Finding it, she swiped the touch screen until the number she searched for appeared. Dumb fingers pressed the green button. What the hell is wrong with me? she asked herself annoyed and started to walk. Since when do I let a guy make me nervous? “Come on! Pick up!” she snapped when the phone rung for a third time.
