“Eek!” A bewildered Carl shrieked with wide emerald coloured eyes. “My Lord...!”

Oomph! Roan slammed into the young vampire, grabbing him by his shirt. His mouse coloured-hair came loose from the thong.

“Don’t ever dictate to me what is possible!”

The sheer force of the momentum sent them staggering. Bang! They hit the wall a split second later and the room shook.

The younger man started to open his mouth.

“I said NO!” Roan growled, pinning Carl into the indent, made by the impact, left on the wall. Black eyes growing darker, almost terrifying. The hideous creature inside reared its ugly head. Lips curled back to reveal razor-sharp fangs.

Gasps and murmurs erupted.

Immediately Joseph moved forward, touching Roan’s arm. “My Lord, our battle is with your brother,” he reminded their leader.

Roan’s eyes slid to the side. The generals appalled faces fraying the edge of his reason. He looked back into Carl’s petrified eyes. Death, stroking his hands as his fingers locked around his neck. Begging silently to snuff out the life of the one who dares to boldly suggest he should turn his back on his destiny.

“Roan, please...” Joseph begged, his stomach knotting.

“Fine,” he growled agitated, “get this ignorant pup out of my sight!”
