Damn! I should have made time to eat. With overpowered rational thoughts, his feet moved forward of their own accord.

“Great,” he hissed in a soft whisper. Annoyed, he glared at his groin. “Now you decide to awaken!” A woman had not aroused me in more than 200 years. Not since… He shook the memory before it could cause pain.

He held his breath in an attempt to curb his hunger. Useless, his senses led the way. When he reached a glass-door, he opened and risked a quick breath. Forest scents met him. Peaceful sounds of a bubbling brook played softly in the background. Amazed, he stared at the room, if one could call it that.

The forest/meadow scene was an exact replica down to the last detail. The carpet mimicked a jungle floor. Plants and trees dotted the space in strategic places. Furniture resembled trees, rocks, and shrubs. Tiny fairy lights flickered all over, fooling you into thinking fireflies came out to play. Nocturnal creatures peeked out in unexpected places, creating an illusion of magic.

A blissful sigh escaped from the bed. Stiffening, he glanced sideways. The bed’s base was made of a huge water lily, which rested on a pond-like floor. At the four corners, vines intertwined with roses. Twisting up from the ground, it crisscrossed to form a canopy over-head. Poison ivy leaves covered the roof and curtains resembled tiny spider webs woven together.
