The moon’s radiance bathed everything in brilliant cold light. As he looked up into the starlit sky, a soft growl came from his curled back lips.

“I despise you,” he said bitter. “You’re the reason my father died,” his displeasure directed at the lifeless ball, “and now you’re about to claim another two innocent lives in the name of freedom.”

Pale chiselled features scrunched up and closely resembled a vampire bat. The stark light reflected off his razor-sharp fangs. With determination, he forced himself to look away.

Schooling his features back too normal with years of practice. Long fingers raked through his hair. Bits of loose strands fell into place. Checking his waterproof watch; digital numbers displayed 03:30.

Picking his backpack up. He swung it over his shoulder. Then started in the direction of the clearing he spotted earlier. Girths-girths. His feet made grinding sounds in the soft sand with each step.

Mere seconds passed before he reached the opening between the trees. Thump-thump-thump. He stamped his feet to rid it of damp sand. A stone-path led him deeper inside as he followed. With each progressing step, he frowned. What is it about this place? He studied the layout closer.

“San Sebastian!” he gasped, blinking, his chest tightened as painful memories surfaced.
