"Thou learned secrets upon my fall from grace that led me to believe I had been deceived. Deceived by the very mercy thee hath shown me," Dantalion questioned his brother archangel.

"Thy looketh upon thee as my youngest brother, Dantalion. Thou art the only immortal ever known to both angels and demons to move about between the dominions of heaven and hell. It was God's will thee were saved from thy original fate," Gabriel assured him.

"Our Lord merciful God knew thy were the seventy first demon of the Goetia… demon, who with thy immortal blood could rise up my brother demons hence calling forth the four great Kings of Hell. Was that not the true purpose for thy mercy?" Dantalion scowled.

"Thou were saved from the eternal hells of damnation. Thou were the youngest immortal soul ever purified by God, guardian at the thrones of the third heaven, Dantalion! Neither angel nor demon could deny you that right," Gabriel confirmed.

For now, Dantalion believed Gabriel to be sincere, and always true to his word. Dantalion tasted of lust, and saw each of the seven mortal sins of man first hand. He defied his demonic nature to the extreme- restraining the need to devour and restraining lust so he could love. It was the original sin of his fall.

He decided this was the day my mortal soul would be saved, the same day he would take back his right to reclaim immortality and sit at the throne of the third heaven.

Dantalion knew this was the last day his physical body would ever touch upon mine again, that I would never be allowed to love him, or he to love me, for eternity. That this love would need to come to an end.

He spoke to Gabriel. "I must end this."

"Yes," Gabriel agreed.

Not yet restored to my mortal soul, I still felt his presence and heard his voice. I felt his heart pounding when he came closer.

"Even the fallen can reclaim salvation. Mine wears the face of a mortal girl. Thy will love you forever," Dantalion whispered, kissing me for a final time.

He could hear my thoughts…"You're the only voice I ever hear, an elixir that pulses through my blood. I'll wait, however long it takes for you to come back."

"I cannot come back after this day," Dantalion whispered sadly.

He felt my tears… "the empty reflection of immortality," I whispered back.

Dantalion let me go, coming forward toward Gabriel to seek salvation of my soul.
