"Rowan, do you remember, the ritual, the sacrificial blood?" Dantalion asked him.

"What? Whose blood?"

"The blood that was drawn the night of Samhain, when the souls of the dead cross between the two worlds?" Dantalion answered.

"I remember. I cut my flesh to add to the vessel they passed around that night. I thought it was a joke, you know, for Halloween."

"It was real," Dantalion went on. "The members held ritual that night because they believeth the collection of immortal blood would…" Dantalion was interrupted by Count Druitte.

"My Lord, they would summon the four great Kings of Hell," Druite finished his sentence.

"Yes, you know of the oath?" Dantalion questioned him.

"My brother, Count Halphas spoke of nothing but the day of reckoning, when all the demons of the Goetia would be freed," Druitte continued.

"Then you also know of the purification of immortal blood."

"Yes," Druitte answered.

"Only when pure immortal blood is sacrificed can the demons of the Goetia be summoned by evocation. Only one immortal soul to one demon, bound only to he who calls them forth," Dantalion explained. "The demons can then call forth and summon the four great Kings of hell…Lucifer, Leviathan, Satan and Belial," Dantalion chanted.

"Satan? Satan is one of the four great Kings of Hell?" Rowan questioned Dantalion.

"Yes, and it is he who taunts us now."

"Is that why you're bound to Laurel, because she summoned your demonic soul?" Rowan asked.

"Yes," Dantalion nodded sadly.

"How the hell can Laurel summon a demon of the Goetia? Rowan yelled. "She doesn't have immortal blood!"

"Yes, she does. When I fell from grace, I was condemned along with Lilith, remember? Dantalion reminded him.

"Yes, my Lord, you told us your woman was also condemned, taken to the afterlife," Druitte agreed.

"When Lilith embodied Laurel, she was of immortal blood," Dantalion confessed.

"So what of my blood?" Rowan asked.

"It was an oath to set thy brother demons of the Goetia free," Dantalion mused. "The creation of an elixir of immortal blood that would summon them, an antidote, but in discovery, found out the elixir could not release them, and that your blood was marked 'immortal'," Dantalion told Rowan and the others. I extracted a drop of Laurel's blood as I did not want hers to become part of the elixir."
