The whole afternoon raced by for me as I finalized the details, making sure the High Priestess was ready for tonight and the students attending knew where to meet her. I finished getting ready while waiting for Rowan to pick me up at my house. When I came downstairs, he was standing out front smoking a cigarette. I peeked out the front door.

"You look beautiful" he said eyeballing me. I had a burgundy silk cloak on. It had a grey fleece lining that kept me warm on the colder nights of our rituals. It would definitely come in use tonight, with the air a crisp feel of autumn. I took the hood off and my black hair fell down past my shoulders.

"Thanks," I smiled. "Where's your cloak?"

"It's over there." He gestured to the steps. "I thought I'd wait till we get there".

"Okay," I nodded.

He kept staring at me. I thought he was acting weird. He opened the door wider, letting himself inside. Rowan always liked me from the first day we met. He was a good friend, and I guess he wanted to keep it that way. Especially since I was always telling him about a male demon overtaking my body and soul. He seemed a little jealous every time I talked about it so I tried not to mention it anymore.

Rowan didn't go to college. He worked driving a delivery truck. He always talked about going back to school. I tried to convince him he should. One time I dragged him down to campus to apply, and he backed out a few weeks later. He told me street smarts were more important than higher learning. He might have changed his mind if he knew about The Skull and Bones.

He reached in his pocket and took something shiny out and rested in my hands. It was a moonstone pendant.

"Rowan, it's beautiful. You shouldn't give me this!" I tried to sound grateful but it felt weird. Like this completely changed our friendship into something more. Something I wasn't sure I wanted to give yet. I still had a deep obsession for the demon named Dantalion.

"Laurel, I want you to keep it. It's a moonstone. They say during a full moon you can interpret your dreams."

I laughed out loud.

"I don't know if I want you to know what my dreams tell me! "

"Maybe it will make them go away" he joked.

"Yea, make them go away" I repeated almost sadly.
