Gloria looked all around and said, ''this is some place isn't it?" it had a very high ceiling, covered with lights of all sizes and shapes, and several large round globes covered in tiny mirrors hanging down, no doubt for a spectacular light show, that would take place all around them, the colors on the walls were wild and she noticed mirrors in many places, to help bounce the light around, and of course speakers everywhere, this place was known to book some very popular DJ's. Chad said, "Yeah it's a happening place" he noticed the DJ was in the booth setting up about to begin, people were pouring in now and scrambling for tables all around.
The music began, it was loud and wild, it started with some great disco music, and he took her hand and said, "Ready?" she said, "absolutely" and they danced like professionals, they noticed people watching them and moving out of their way, they were smooth and confident and it showed. They danced till they were so out of breath they had to sit and have a rest, Chad ordered a tall cold drink for each of them, and they observed the other dancers as they rested. They could do no more than gaze at each other, the music was too loud to permit conversation, the only time they could talk was during a slow dance, when they could speak into each other's ear.
After a long set of disco music, the DJ announced that he would be switching to old time rock and roll from the 50's and that they would be having a dance contest with some nice prices for the top three dancers. He went right into this era of music, with a medley of Elvis tunes, and as they danced to slow song, Chad asks Gloria if she'd be willing to enter the dance contest? She said, "we're here to dance and it sounds like fun so I'm in if your are, "and so he took her back to the table and went to sign them into the contest, and get a copy of the rules, which they looked over at the table, it seemed as though it was also a contest of knowledge of dances from that era as well as the ability to execute them.
The music would switch to five different songs and tempos during the contest and the dancers had to switch the dance to suit the music. They had six judges moving around on the floor watching their style and talent and also to see if they had been doing the right dance for the music. Gloria said as she laid her copy on the table, "this really sounds like fun!" Chad said, "Sure does!"
