He gunned his engine for all she was worth and went after the other car, this time it was a head on hit, whichever car was still running would be the winner, it was quite a spectacular crash, Gloria screamed and jumped to her feet, as did most of the crowd, then they held their breaths to see what the outcome would be, one car burst into flames but was quickly extinguished by the emergency crew, they had hit the field as soon as the crash had taken place, Gloria saw that the one driver had gotten out and was running to safety as he emerged from the heavy smoke.

But she did not see Chad, he was still in his car, Gloria was getting frantic, just as the smoke cleared, the paramedics rushed to his car, it seemed to take forever to extricate him from the car, they had a bright orange collar on his neck as they loaded him into the waiting ambulance, she almost fainted, as they drove off the field and through the gate.

They announced over the loud speaker that Chad Benton was indeed the winner, but he was being taken to the hospital as he was unconscious when they got him out of the car, we're sure he'll be ok folks but the prayers of his fans would surely be welcome at this time. Gloria pushed and shoved her way through the crowd and down from the bleachers, before they finished the announcement. She stopped for only a second to ask a police officer where the hospital is located, and she ran for her car, she was at the hospital in ten minutes but it seemed like an hour to her, she went immediately to the emergency room to ask about Chad Benton at the desk, the nurse ask if she was a relative, she lied and said yes, I'm his sister, the nurse then said take a left down this hall first door on the right, you can wait in there. When she got there his dad was there looking tired and worried, she just knew this had to be Chad's father, she took a seat to wait quietly, he gave her a nod, but he did not know it was Chad that she was there for.

She picked up a magazine, mostly to cover her anxiety because she had a feeling they'd be waiting for quite awhile, nothing in hospitals ever seemed to move at a pace fast enough for those who waited. Gloria tried to distract herself with her own thoughts, thinking about their conversations in the chat room on line, and how he seemed to be a genuinely nice man, just maybe the one she'd been waiting for a long time.
