They drove in complete silence. Tebogo was in no mood to talk and he drove too fast that Mandisa wondered if his secrets were worth dying for.

He took her to a club in Rosebank and Mandisa wondered how he knew about it and why he hadn't gone there by himself.

Inside the club, they got a table away from the dance floor and Tebogo ordered Jack Daniels for himself and rose' wine for her. The first time he had come to her apartment she had been drinking rose' and Mandisa was surprised that he remembered. The service there was good and so was the music. Mandisa sipped her wine slowly while tapping her foot to the music. She couldn't remember the last time she had been out to a club. She didn't date much and usually she and her sisters went out for a bite to eat or they went to the movies. Tebogo drowned his drink in one go and ordered another one.

"Is your mother here alone or did she come with Tumi?" She asked wanting to know what it was about his mother's arrival that made him suicidal. Tebogo didn't answer her; instead he finished his second drink in a speed record and ordered his third. At this rate, he would be drunk before she finished her first drink. That bothered her. She didn't want him to get drunk so early. She wanted to talk to him, wanted to know him as well as he seemed to know her. His third drink arrived and he raised it to his lips but stopped when he saw her staring at him disapproving.

"I told you, Mannie, I need to drink so you can stop looking at me with those pitiful eyes." He said but sipped his drink this time.

"What you are doing is not drinking. My god, you are already on your third one and we haven't been here for five minutes. Is there some kind of a record you are trying to beat?"

Tebogo frowned at her. "You sound like my mother!" He told her angrily but Mandisa was glad to see that he was taking it easy with his third drink.

"Is that a compliment or an insult?" His one eye brow went up.

"What do you think?" Mandisa shrugged.

"Your mom is the most important woman in your life, you would do anything for her so any other day that would have been a compliment, however you are pissed off at her tonight so that could be an insult."
