"That claim may have gotten Joseph to stick with Mary in the olden days, but it won't fly in the modern days. No, sweetheart. My brother thought your sister was impregnated by another man." Tebogo said his voice resuming that caressing note that had wreck havoc with her heart. Mandisa ignored the fluttery beat of her heart. Her mind had gotten the memo that he was the enemy but her heart and body seemed to be slow in catching up.

"Are you suggesting that my sister cheated on your brother?" She asked. The suggestion was so ludicrous that she felt like laughing herself. Only it wasn't that funny. Mandisa knew her sister and Sindi would never do such a thing.

"Now you understand why Tumi did what he did." Tebogo said with a wink. The wink touched her last nerve and Mandisa got the push she needed to do what she wanted to do…He was too far for her hand to reach so she looked at the table for something to use. Tebogo read her mind in an instant and his face sobered up.

"Don't even think about it." He told her sternly. "We maybe in a public place but don't think for a minute I won't retaliating. Trust me, you don't want to know how nasty I can get."

Mandisa reached for her cup of coffee long time forgotten and raised it to her lips. She looked at him and smiled for the first time since she had found out who he was.

"You are right; we are in a public place. But you are wrong; I already know how nasty you can get." That was the only warning he got as she emptied her coffee on him. Tebogo jumped as if burnt. Mandisa stood up leisurely with all her belongings intact.

"Now you don't know how nasty I can get but I assure you, keep threatening my family and you will soon find out."

The whole restaurant was looking at them and it was clear from their looks that they were curious as to what he had said to deserve that.

Mandisa stuck her nose in the air and walked out of there.
