The thoughts of the carelessly discarded bodies he'd strewn across American were inescapable. No, I thought. He wouldn't. "If he killed the baby, why not leave her with the others? He'd have no reason to remove her body and dispose of it somewhere else. He must still have her and be on the road."

"I doubt it. The description of that vehicle is plastered at every toll booth, state police barracks and wire service from here to California and back. A couple of thousand eyes have looked and gotten zilch. Think about it. We may not have made his name public but that doesn't mean no one is looking for him and his motor home."

Suddenly, I remembered! I'd passed over the story of an abandoned infant in a Logan Airport rest room. I suddenly realized where the illusive motor home was parked and I knew Baby Claire Elizabeth LeBlanc was unidentified but alive! I blurted out my suspicions to Detective Jackson and said a prayer. Howie joined me, after I hung up the phone.

It was then that my slowly reacting brain, flowing like cold molasses began to function, more than a gerbil driven wheel. If, as I was convinced, Grasso had gone to Logan, he too probably embarked from that facility. And where would he fly? To California you asshole! There was no brief respite, no few days of safety; John Luke Grasso was here in our back yard!

On the road, in California. While my new vehicle is far less accommodating to my needs as my precious motor home, now resting in an airport parking lot, this van is satisfying my temporary needs. I trust it is equally responsive to the needs of my newly found guests.

No one else would be capable of executing the dramatic capture of my nemesis and the lovely child as well. I unwearyingly followed the three to that horrid mall and waited for my chance. I am a patient person by nature and fully expected to later take them one or two at a time. But alas, when they visited the ladies room, I followed! If I'd been discovered, I'd have apologized profusely for my absent minded error. However, what did I discover but the child at the sink alone and the doors to two stalls closed!

My specially soaked rag was secure in a plastic bag so I withdrew it and had it over the child's face before she turned to see who entered. I laid her gently and silently on the floor and proceeded to the first stall, and slipped it open with my knife. The young woman I didn't know cried out but was quickly silenced by my knife. A voice from the other stall cried out the name Julie, but I had opened it too, and with knife at the woman's throat, calmly told her to adjust her clothing and come with me.
