I asked Daniel Brennan if there was any progress in the Bryce case. "We're plodding along but the guy's attorney is a bear. He keeps saying we're harassing his client if we even ask questions. I'd love to put this behind us but it takes time."

"Keep on top of it for us, will you? Our credibility is important to us."

"I've got to watch my step too," he replied. "I've been asking a lot of questions of my old network pals and some of them are beginning to wonder why I'm so interested in crime when they think a retiree should be out fishing or chasing a little white ball."

I laughed. "Maybe you should take up a hobby!"

"You guys are my hobby; keeping you informed and safe. By the way, your competition met his maker. Rupert Youngblood was found dead. No details yet,"

Before I could answer, I was interrupted by a scream from my wife that sent chills down my spine. Then she clarified, an octave higher. "Martha's water's broken!"

California. Home sweet home and I have a playmate awaiting my attention! She's such a little fraidy cat but I shan't be able to keep her much longer. I must be on my way, as business calls.

But I shall travel in style! I've purchased a home on wheels for my journeys. Thank you mother, for your frugal years and taste in prosperous husbands though I paid dearly for number three before I took matters into my own hands. But that's another story for another day. I'm quite exhausted.

Business demanded my attention this past week and I responded gallantly. Now the world has one less fool! I laughed in the pretender's face as his blood poured down his shirt and into his pants as he tried in vain to stop the flow. He interrupted my schedule and wasted my time with his lies but he paid dearly for inconveniencing me. I'd rather have entertained my house guest than listened to his sniveling and begging but alas, I do what I have to do. My genius demands it.
