I sat down beside her and thought about what to say. Unsure anything would sound right, I just said what I had to and hoped it came out the way I meant it. "Nina, you're going to be released tomorrow. I'm going to take you home."

She nodded and said, "I hear my sister wasn't crazy about that idea, but I trust Jordan with my life and she says that I'd want to go with you. She's told me everything you've done for me since I've been in here. I guess you're a pretty nice boss if you're willing to take care of all my hospital bills."

"I guess." This wasn't going exactly the way I'd hoped it would.

"I just have one question to ask. Did I move in with you after we got engaged or before?"

"Before. You've lived with me since you began working for me as my private curator."

Tears filled her eyes and she brought her hands up to her face. "I'm a curator? I wish my father had gotten to see that."

I hung my head and said quietly, "I do too."

We sat together saying nothing for a long time, but then she touched my arm softly and said, "I don't know if I'll ever remember our time together, but I hope I do."

I knew it wasn't the perfect situation, but I didn't care. Nina would be coming home and even though she didn't remember everything we were, I had the chance to show her why she'd agreed to marry me while we rediscovered each other. The problems that had threatened to tear us apart still lurked out there, and I'd have to deal with them if I ever expected Nina to be mine again.

We'd been given a second chance. Now it was up to me to prove to her I was the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
