I smiled, but then panic set in, and my smile faded. Reed and I hadn’t told our parents yet that we were pregnant. My mother had been texting me all night and this morning.

What if Reed’s mom thinks I trapped him with this? What if she doesn’t believe that we just found out?

I peeked up at Reed, and the happiness on his face told me all I needed to know. He was over the moon about me being pregnant. I knew how much this meant to him, and honestly, I didn’t give a shit about what my parents or his mother would think.

All that mattered was us—Reed and me.

I closed my eyes and thought back to what he’d said during the ceremony. I wanted so badly to tell him that he had swooned the hell out of me, but I could barely talk.

“What are you thinking about, angel? Your face is flushed,” Reed whispered before kissing me softly on the cheek.

I opened my eyes and stared into his. “What you said to me during the wedding. It was amazing.”

When his eyes lit up and that crooked smile played across his face, I knew what was coming next.

“Swoon-worthy?”

I slowly nodded my head. “Oh, yes, very much so.”

I laughed when he did a fist pump, and then he pulled me off the stool and took me into his arms.

“I want to go dancing.” He looked over at Layton and Whit. “Y’all want to hit the club? Have a little fun before we head back to Texas tomorrow?”

“Yes! Dancing sounds amazing!” Whitley said.

Layton nodded. “Sounds good to me, but I need a nap.”

Whitley turned around and hit Layton in the stomach. “Come on, let’s head back to the room, so you can call Kate and see how her horseback riding competition went.”

“That’s right! I forgot Katie Mac was in a show this weekend. Shit! I can’t believe I forgot, and we missed it,” I said as I pulled out my phone. I sent Jen a quick text message, saying I was sorry for missing Kate’s show.

Layton grinned and pulled me in for a hug. “Don’t worry. I told Jen about you and Reed, and she was so happy for y’all. She said that Kate will have plenty of shows. Now, you and the old man go have a bit of fun before we all meet up again later. Our flight is early tomorrow, so we can’t stay out too late.”

I giggled. “Okay, Dad.”

While Reed and Layton talked about something to do with the ranch, I hooked my arm with Whit’s, and we made our way to the elevator. Every now and then, someone would stop Reed and me and congratulate us on our wedding. I was honestly getting tired of smiling.

Gesh. What would I have done if we’d had a big wedding with guests, like my mother wanted? I would have died.

“Have you told your mom yet?” Whitley asked with a smirk.

“Ugh, no. Honestly, I’m scared to tell her. She was pretty upset that we’d decided to elope and that we were getting married so soon.”

Whitley shrugged her shoulders. “She’ll get over it soon enough. I bet they are going to want to throw a big reception though.”

I let out a sigh as we walked into the elevator. “Yep. She wants to have a dinner or something for us when we come up for Tyler’s wedding. I just hope we’ll be making it to the wedding…ya know?”

Whitley knew why and didn’t even have to ask. It was kind of nice that she knew about Noah now. If I hadn’t told her, she would be asking me fifty million questions about me not going to my own brother’s wedding. I’d already been going over excuses for why I wouldn’t be able to make it if Noah’s business trip got canceled.

Whitley and I rode up to the top floor in silence as we listened to Layton talking about a racehorse he needed Lucky to work on. Then, he went on about something to do with the cows and calves and fences that needed mending. Reed worked more now than he ever had with his job at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, but he loved every minute of being partners with Layton. They worked so well together. Layton had hired Frank and Mimi’s former ranch hand to take Mitch’s place, and from what Reed had said, this guy was ten times better than Mitch.

Reed glanced my way, and when our eyes met, he licked his lips, and I let out a soft moan, regretting it the moment it escaped my lips. Layton was too busy talking, and Whitley was staring up at Layton. She was so lost in his words that she hadn’t noticed my slip.

Gah, I just want to feel Reed’s lips on my body…everywhere.

By the time the damn elevator doors opened, I was on fire and needing Reed more than ever, but Layton was still going on and on.

I grabbed Reed’s hand and pulled him away. “Sorry, Layton. If you’ll excuse us, Reed has his husbandly duties to fulfill.”

“Really, Court? I didn’t need that visual,” Whitley said.

I turned around and walked backward as I smiled at Layton and Whitley.

“Go take care of your wife, Layton,” I said.

A smile spread across Layton’s face. “With pleasure, Mrs. Moore,” he said as he reached down and swept Whitley off her feet. He began carrying her back to their room as she laughed and kept telling him to put her down.

When I turned around, I was pretty sure I had a goofy-ass grin on my face.

Reed was just about to put the key into the slot when he lifted my chin. “What’s with the big smile?”

“Layton called me Mrs. Moore, and it sounded so wonderful,” I said as I felt the stupid tears building in my eyes again.

“Well, I’m glad to hear you love it so much since I intend on you keeping that name for the rest of your life. Now, let’s get on with these husbandly duties I have to fulfill.”

Reed reached down and picked me up, and I let out a small scream. He opened the door and carried me in while giving me a sweet, soft kiss. The smell of all the roses in the room was intoxicating. He brought me into the bedroom and set me down on the edge of the bed.

“I really love that wedding dress, but it has to come off now.”

The flood of wetness between my legs caused me to let out a whimper. I couldn’t wait to feel him moving in and out of me, and I was more than ready for it. He got down and took off one of my shoes. He brought my foot up to him and began rubbing it before making his way up my leg. I instinctively spread my legs wider for him, and he let out a moan when his fingers made their way into my panties.

Reed closed his eyes and said, “Damn…you’re always so wet and ready, Court.”

I dropped my head back. “Only for you.”

He pulled his fingers away too soon, and I let out a huff.
