Too bad, Stephen, but... Somewhere, she remembered, she had read something too. ...If you're not with me, you're against me. Almost tearfully, Barbara walked to her car, got in, and drove off the campus. She drove with the feeling she had left her heart behind in two places; in Timmy's dormitory room and, yes, she had to admit to herself, in Stephen Collier's office.

It's easy to see, Gail, how impressed you were with Stephen, and thought we might be a match. But you didn't know him as well as I thought you did. I got my hopes up, probably too high. As she drove off the campus and snowflakes began falling on her station wagon's windshield, a cold chill swept over her so she turned the heater on.

Well, I've been alone before. I know how that feels. At first she thought she had turned on the radio instead of the heater. A voice spoke to her faintly in the car, telling her, "Put love, Barbara."

And I will, she vowed, driving into heavier falling snowflakes as tears that had been welled up inside her now poured down her cheeks.

I will put love in Timmy. All my love!
